110 NSS volunteers of All Saints’ College responsibly collected and disposed 250 kg of non-biodegradable waste at Shankumugham Beach, Thiruvananthapuram.
On 15 January 2025, a Beach Clean-up Drive was organized at Shankumugham Beach, Trivandrum, Kerala in collaboration with NSS Unit of All Saints’ College, led by our volunteer Vipin.
A total of 110 NSS volunteers participated with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of civic responsibility. The activity was carried out in a well-organized manner, with volunteers divided into groups to ensure effective coverage of the shoreline. Prior to the clean-up, safety instructions and awareness on waste segregation were provided.
During the drive, volunteers responsibly collected and disposed of around 250 kg of non-biodegradable waste, including plastic waste, food wrappers, bottles, and other pollutants scattered along the beach. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about marine pollution, plastic waste, and the importance of maintaining clean public spaces.
The clean-up drive had a significant environmental and social impact. It helped restore the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of Shankumugham Beach, reduced marine pollution, and contributed to the protection of coastal biodiversity. The hands-on experience also strengthened environmental awareness among volunteers, motivating them to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.
Beyond environmental impact, the activity fostered teamwork, leadership, civic responsibility, and sustainable living values among the volunteers. It also encouraged community participation and inspired the public to be more conscious about keeping shared spaces clean.
We sincerely appreciate Vipin P, the coordinator, and all 110 NSS volunteers for their dedication and collective effort in making this initiative impactful. 💙 Their commitment reinforces the role of youth-led action in environmental conservation.
