Captains Social Foundation is a youth-led nonprofit organisation that bridges the gap between young people who want to volunteer and communities that need their support.
We partner with schools, colleges, nonprofits, corporates, and governments to identify real needs in their communities, create meaningful volunteering opportunities around them, and bring young people together to address those needs. We ideate, design, coordinate, conduct outreach, and implement social-impact initiatives that engage, empower, and enable young people to take action, build skills, and lead change in their communities.
Today, we are one of Kerala’s leading volunteering organisations and one of India’s most active youth-led volunteering networks. We work alongside national and global volunteering movements and partners, including UNICEF YuWaah India, Good Deeds Day, and Daan Utsav, to strengthen volunteerism and create greater social impact.
As we continue to grow, our ambition is bold yet simple: to inspire 1% of India’s youth to make volunteering a regular part of their lives.

Transforming Community Needs into Meaningful Volunteering Opportunities
Captains works at the intersection of community needs and people's willingness to volunteer. We work with schools, colleges, nonprofits, corporates, governments, and communities to identify real needs and turn them into meaningful opportunities for people to contribute.
We create volunteering opportunities across areas such as education, environment, health, community development, awareness, and other social causes, bringing people together to take action where support is needed.
The willingness to volunteer is there. The connection is missing.
Communities have real needs that require people, skills, and collective action. At the same time, many young people want to volunteer but often lack meaningful opportunities to engage with their communities.
Captains exists to bridge this gap. We connect young people with communities where their time, skills, and energy are needed, while helping communities access people who are willing to contribute.
Young people are not just beneficiaries of change. They can be its creators.
We believe every young person has the potential to contribute to their community when given the opportunity, responsibility, and support to act.
We believe volunteering is more than giving time. It is a way for young people to participate, learn, build skills, develop leadership, and take responsibility for the communities around them.
And we believe communities should not simply receive support—they should be active participants in shaping the change they want to see.
When people are given meaningful opportunities to contribute, volunteering creates value for both communities and the people who serve them.
From a Passion for Volunteering to a Movement
Our journey began in 2006, with our founder's passion for volunteering. Over the past two decades, he experienced first-hand how volunteering can bring people together, build confidence and skills, and create meaningful change. But one gap became clear: many young people wanted to volunteer, yet meaningful opportunities to engage with their communities were not always easy to find.
In 2016, we began building a network of young volunteers in Kerala, creating opportunities for young people to participate, take responsibility, and lead.
In 2020, Captains Social Foundation was founded in Kerala as a youth-led movement by young people, for young people, with a vision to strengthen volunteerism and build active citizens across India.
What started with a small group of young people who simply loved volunteering has grown into a network that has engaged 65,000+ young people and collaborates with hundreds of schools, colleges, corporates, governments, and nonprofits across India.
