60 students of M. Dasan Institute of Technology were introduced to the concept of reimagining volunteerism.
The Volunteers Workshop 1.0 by Captains Social Foundation

The inaugural The Volunteer Workshop by Captains Social Foundation took place on March 29, 2021, at M. Dasan Institute of Technology, Kozhikode. This event was specially organized for the dedicated volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Units 254 & 608. Aimed at fostering growth in volunteerism, the workshop brought together 60 enthusiastic students from the college, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of volunteerism's transformative power and the critical role they can play in social change.
The workshop sought to challenge traditional notions of volunteerism by encouraging participants to rethink how they can create a more significant impact in their communities. By introducing innovative concepts and techniques, it helped equip the students with the skills and knowledge needed to design and implement changemaking projects that could positively affect their localities and beyond. The session included a series of interactive activities, group discussions, and practical exercises, all designed to nurture critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
One of the key aspects of the workshop was its focus on empowering students to think outside the box and approach volunteering in new, more effective ways. They were encouraged to move beyond conventional volunteer activities and explore how they could make lasting contributions to peacebuilding, community development, and social well-being. The session emphasized the importance of proactive engagement, urging students to take leadership roles in their communities and drive initiatives that addressed both immediate and long-term social challenges.
In addition to practical skills, the workshop also sought to inspire a sense of responsibility and purpose among the volunteers. Through motivational speeches and success stories, participants were reminded of the profound impact that thoughtful, well-planned volunteer initiatives can have on creating positive change. The training lab not only empowered them to design impactful projects but also instilled in them the confidence to lead, innovate, and inspire others in their journey of volunteering and changemaking.
By the end of the session, the 60 students were not just better equipped with the tools necessary for effective volunteer work but were also motivated and excited to take their newfound knowledge into their communities. The workshop was an essential step in creating a ripple effect of social responsibility, inspiring the next generation of young leaders to actively contribute toward building a more peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable society.
