3 volunteers engaged 20 parents across three Anganwadis in Punalur by facilitating an awareness session on reducing parental academic pressure and promoting play-based, age-appropriate learning and emotional well-being.

On 7 January 2026, an Awareness Program on Parental Pressure on Young Children’s Study was conducted at Anganwadi centres in Punalur, Kerala.

3 volunteer engaged with 20 parents of Anganwadi children, directly benefiting 25 young children, through an interactive session. The program was held across Chalacode Anganwadi, Kanjiramala Anganwadi, and Musavari Anganwadi.

The session focused on helping parents understand the negative effects of excessive academic pressure on young children. Through simple explanations, discussions, and real-life examples, parents were introduced to the importance of play-based learning, age-appropriate education, emotional well-being, and healthy child development.

Additional discussions also addressed:
- Parental pressure in early childhood education
- Lack of health and hygiene facilities
- Phone addiction among adolescents

The program created meaningful reflection among parents, many of whom expressed a better understanding of allowing children to learn at their own pace and balancing learning with play. The session helped reduce unrealistic expectations and encouraged positive, supportive parenting practices that nurture curiosity and long-term love for learning.

A heartfelt appreciation to our coordinators Ayana Anil, Saja Shajahan, and Sivaranjini T M for thoughtfully leading this initiative and creating a safe space for dialogue and awareness.
