15 volunteers empowered to develop 9 impactful social initiatives within 24 hours to tackle community challenges

From September 25-27, 2021, we successfully hosted the fifth edition of The Social Hackathon, a transformative 24-hour event that brought together 15 passionate volunteers to create innovative solutions for their communities. During the event, participants collaboratively developed 9 impactful social projects, each addressing pressing community challenges.

The Social Hackathon, an initiative by Captains Social Foundation in collaboration with Peace First, the Global Incubator of Youth-led Social Change, continued its mission of empowering young changemakers. Held virtually via Google Meet, this edition reinforced the potential of online platforms in fostering creativity and collaboration among youth.

The hackathon provided participants with hands-on training in project design and development, equipping them with the tools to identify community needs and create solutions that drive meaningful impact. It emphasized critical thinking, empathy, and teamwork as essential components of effective social initiatives.

Over the course of the event, participants explored diverse issues such as education inequality, environmental conservation, and mental health awareness. Working together, they designed actionable plans with clear objectives and strategies to create measurable outcomes.

The fifth edition of The Social Hackathon was not just about creating projects; it was about inspiring leadership and collaboration among the volunteers. By the end of the event, participants had gained valuable skills and confidence to continue their journey as community leaders and changemakers.

The 9 projects developed during this edition showcased the dedication, creativity, and commitment of the volunteers to making a difference. It reaffirmed the belief that even small teams with big ideas can lead to transformative change when given the opportunity and resources.

This edition of The Social Hackathon was a celebration of the power of youth-led innovation, demonstrating how collaborative efforts can pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable society. It further emphasized the role of young leaders in driving progress and addressing critical issues in their communities.
