30 volunteers empowered to develop 16 impactful social initiatives within 24 hours to tackle community challenges
The Social Hackathon 4.0 by Captains Social Foundation

On August 26-27, 2021, we successfully hosted the fourth edition of The Social Hackathon, marking a significant milestone as the first offline hackathon of its kind. Held in the scenic locale of Ramakkalmedu, Idukki, this transformative 24-hour event brought together 30 passionate volunteers to collaboratively address pressing community issues. By the end of the hackathon, the participants had developed 16 impactful social projects, each aimed at creating meaningful change.
The Social Hackathon, an initiative by Captains Social Foundation in collaboration with Peace First, the Global Incubator of Youth-led Social Change, provided a unique platform for youth to innovate, collaborate, and lead. The offline format of this edition added an immersive and interactive dimension, allowing participants to connect deeply, brainstorm effectively, and work together in real-time.
The event equipped the volunteers with essential skills in project design and development, guiding them to identify key challenges in their communities and craft solutions that are practical, impactful, and sustainable. The scenic and serene setting of Ramakkalmedu provided an inspiring backdrop for creativity and collaboration.
Through intensive workshops, brainstorming sessions, and team activities, the participants not only enhanced their ability to address social challenges but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose. The projects they developed showcased their innovative thinking and unwavering dedication to community development.
