25 volunteers engaged in meaningful storytelling to initiate community actions in Kerala
Volunteer Story Circle 3.0 by Captains Social Foundation
On June 13, 2021, Captains Social Foundation hosted Volunteer Story Circle 3.0, a group discussion centered around the theme "Essential Skill-set and Knowledge Accessible for Students in Schools." The session was held on Clubhouse as part of the ongoing research work of the Social Incubation Lab.
With a focus on the need for equipping students with practical skills and knowledge beyond traditional academics, the session saw 25+ youth actively participating and sharing their experiences. The discussion highlighted the growing importance of soft skills, critical thinking, and social-emotional learning for students in today’s ever-evolving world.
Participants shared their perspectives on the gaps in the current education system and discussed the essential skill sets that should be accessible to students in schools. They emphasized the need for skills such as communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and financial literacy, which are critical for personal development and success in the modern workforce.
Additionally, the session explored various initiatives aimed at filling these gaps, such as workshops, extracurricular activities, mentorship programs, and community-based projects that provide real-world experiences for students. The youth shared their own involvement in these initiatives, showcasing how they are contributing to bridging the divide between traditional education and the skills needed for future careers.
The event fostered a collaborative atmosphere where participants not only exchanged ideas but also brainstormed actionable solutions for enhancing the skill sets available to students within schools.
