60 volunteers responsibly collected and disposed of 600 kg of non-biodegradable waste in Thrissur

At The Social Captains, we believe in the power of collective action to create meaningful change. On April 19, 2023, we joined hands with the College of Agriculture Ambalavayal, Regional Agricultural Research Station, and Krishi Vikhyan Kendra to organize a large-scale clean-up drive—Clean & Green Pooppoli. This initiative was part of Good Deeds Day, a global movement dedicated to community service and positive social impact.
The clean-up drive took place in Pooppoli, the internationally renowned flower festival garden located in Wayanad. After the grand festival in January, which saw over 5 lakh visitors, the area was left with a significant amount of plastic waste and litter. Determined to restore the natural beauty of the 2.5-acre site, our team of over 60 enthusiastic volunteers came together for a day of hard work and dedication.
From early morning till late afternoon, our volunteers diligently cleared plastic waste, segregated recyclables, and ensured that the garden was left in a pristine state. The drive not only helped in restoring the ecological balance of the area but also spread awareness about the importance of waste management and sustainable practices.
The success of Clean & Green Pooppoli stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and community-driven initiatives. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners and volunteers who contributed their time and effort to make this event a success.
At The Social Captains, we remain committed to fostering environmental responsibility and inspiring others to take action. Together, let’s continue to work towards a cleaner, greener future!
