40 volunteers created 100 ecobricks to promote environmental awareness in Trivandrum

At The Social Captains, we believe in taking meaningful steps toward a greener future. On April 21, 2023, we proudly collaborated with Kerala Tourism Club, DTPC Thiruvananthapuram, ORMA, and VYBE to organize an impactful initiative at Akkulam Tourist Village, Thiruvananthapuram, as part of Good Deeds Day.
Our goal? To create Eco-Bricks—a simple yet powerful solution to plastic waste management. These bricks, made by tightly packing non-biodegradable plastic into PET bottles, serve as a sustainable alternative for construction, reducing waste that would otherwise pollute our environment.
More than 40 enthusiastic volunteers came together, driven by a shared commitment to sustainability. Through their dedicated efforts, we successfully created over 100 Eco-Bricks, which will be used to build structures at various tourism sites across Kerala. This initiative is more than just a clean-up drive—it’s the first step toward integrating eco-friendly practices into everyday life and promoting responsible tourism.
Eco-Bricks are an innovative way to repurpose plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfills or water bodies. By utilizing them in construction, we not only reduce environmental pollution but also inspire communities to adopt sustainable practices.
This initiative marks just the beginning of our journey toward a cleaner, greener Kerala. We aim to continue collaborating with like-minded organizations and volunteers to promote sustainability, reduce plastic waste, and create a lasting impact on our environment.
A huge thank you to all our partners and volunteers who contributed their time and effort. Together, we are building a future that values both nature and responsible tourism.
