65 volunteers responsibly collected and disposed of 1800 kg of non-biodegradable waste in Kozhikode

At The Social Captains, we believe that small actions can lead to a big impact. As part of Good Deeds Day, we joined hands with the National Service Scheme (NSS) of M-DIT Polytechnic College to organize a Beach Clean-Up Drive on May 1, 2023, at Kozhikode Beach. This initiative was a step towards environmental conservation and spreading awareness about responsible waste disposal.
The event witnessed an overwhelming response from the community, with 65+ dedicated volunteers rolling up their sleeves to restore the beauty of the beach. With unwavering commitment and teamwork, our volunteers successfully removed a staggering 1800+ kg of non-biodegradable waste, preventing it from further polluting our oceans and harming marine life.
Beaches are among the most affected areas when it comes to plastic pollution. From discarded bottles and wrappers to fishing nets and microplastics, waste accumulation poses a significant threat to marine ecosystems. Through this clean-up drive, we aimed to highlight the importance of sustainability and encourage more people to adopt eco-friendly habits.
This clean-up drive not only made a visible difference to the surroundings but also served as a reminder that change begins with us. The collaboration between The Social Captains and NSS of M-DIT Polytechnic College exemplifies how collective action can create a positive ripple effect in society.
This event was just the beginning. We are committed to organizing more such initiatives and spreading the message of environmental responsibility. If youβre passionate about making a difference, join us in our future endeavors to protect our planet, one clean-up at a time.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who participated and made this event a grand success! Together, we can and will make a difference.
Stay tuned for more updates and join us in our journey towards a cleaner, greener world. ππ
