As part of Good Deeds Day, the National Service Scheme (Technical Cell - Kozhikode) collaborated with Captains Social Foundation to organize a Mega Beach Cleaning & Anti-Plastic Awareness Campaign on April 2, 2022, at Kozhikode Beach.

The event was inaugurated by Kozhikode District Collector, Dr. Thej Lohith Reddy IAS, setting the stage for a massive cleanup and awareness initiative. Over 120+ volunteers from various National Service Scheme (NSS) units of polytechnic colleges across Kozhikode joined forces to make a meaningful impact.

A Day of Action for a Cleaner Coastline

The campaign kicked off with an awareness flashmob performed by the volunteers, grabbing public attention and spreading the message of environmental responsibility. Following this, the volunteers actively participated in a beach cleanup drive, where they successfully collected and responsibly disposed of 3 metric tons of waste.

Promoting a Plastic-Free Future

In addition to cleaning the beach, volunteers also engaged in anti-plastic awareness activities. One of the highlights was the distribution of paper bags, handmade by volunteers, to encourage the public to reduce plastic usage and adopt sustainable alternatives.

This campaign was a powerful step toward environmental conservation, inspiring the community to take action for a cleaner, greener future. A big thank you to all the dedicated volunteers and supporters who made this initiative a success!
