30 volunteers engaged in meaningful storytelling to promote mental-wellbeing in Kozhikode

On April 2, 2022, Captains Social Foundation, in collaboration with The Gulmohar Foundation, organized Blindfolded Conversation 1.0 at the Institute of Palliative Medicine, Kozhikode. This unique initiative aimed to foster empathy, deepen human connections, and enhance understanding of the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals.

A Transformative Experience

With the participation of 30 dedicated volunteers, the session provided an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations while blindfolded, removing visual biases and encouraging participants to connect through voice, tone, and emotions alone.

The activity encouraged:
✅ Empathy Building – Understanding the experiences of visually impaired individuals.
✅ Deep Conversations – Focusing on the essence of communication beyond sight.
✅ Awareness and Sensitization – Promoting inclusivity and breaking stereotypes.

Impact and Reflections

Participants shared their experiences, highlighting how the activity shifted their perspectives on accessibility, communication, and human connections. The event successfully created a safe space for open dialogue and self-reflection.

We extend our gratitude to The Gulmohar Foundation and the Institute of Palliative Medicine for their collaboration in making this event a success. The overwhelming response from volunteers and participants reinforces our commitment to creating more such impactful experiences in the future.

🌍 Let’s continue to build a world of inclusivity, understanding, and meaningful conversations! 💙
